Research Profile:

Ab-initio calculations;

1) Study of Li based superionic conductor.

2) Adsorption of heavy metal adatom, dimer, cluster on Graphene, h-BN sheet and its analogue.

3) Clustering of magnetic and non magnetic dopant during doping in the host materials (ex: AlN). Investigation of DMS from application point of view.

4) Defective and Chemically synthesized graphene.

5) IR and Raman study: A convenient tool to identify the materials.

Project in this lab:

In depth study is performed to find out the reason of the blue shift of Raman peak in case of h-BN ML. First principle calculations are utilized to investigate the IR and Raman properties of Chair, Boat and Stirrup conformers of BHNH sheet. The phonon density of states and dispersion relation along symmetry lines for the three conformers of BHNH sheet are explored using density functional perturbation theory (DFPT).

I also worked and write a brief project on the topic “How to build Linux Cluster & Installations of MPI, Queuing software, Scheduler, Materials Studio in the Parallel Computers”.

Research Areas and Interest

Ab-initio calculations employ to investigate the stability, magnetic and optical properties of (defective/ functionalized/chemically synthesize) two dimensional nanostructures is one of my area in research. The aspects of adsorption of heavy atom, dimer and small cluster on graphene and analogue h-BN monolayer have been studied. The microscopic study on the probability of formation of cluster during doping in the host material like aluminum nitride and the nature of magnetism arises due to clustering of dopant is also my field of interest.

In parallel to my research work, I am interested in making of Linux based Beowulf Cluster and understanding of running the simulation package (CASTEP, VASP, Quantum Espresso, Wien2k and LMTO) in Linux based computer cluster.
